Fish Oil: Benefits for the Body, Part 1

The viruses going around and the large temperature swings that come with changing seasons are an active part of our everyday lives. In these moments we often turn to caring for our health only when it's urgent. There's no need to wait until we get sick to take action for the sake of a healthy immune system and good overall condition. Regularly caring for our bodies allows us to have stronger physical and mental health and to feel good in our own skin.

In a series of articles that we're starting with this one, we'll look at the positive health effects of taking fish oil. We'll focus on its main aspects, aiming to familiarize our readers with the full range of benefits that Omega-3 fatty acids offer the body.

What is fish oil?

Fish oil is a primary source of the essential Omega-3 fatty acids that play a key role in health in various ways - these are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Regular fish oil intake strengthens the immune system, improves perception and learning abilities, and supports vision and brain function, as these acids make up about 25% of its fatty tissue.

Who is it suitable for?

One of the advantages of fish oil as a dietary supplement is that it can be taken by everyone, regardless of age or gender. Rosita EVCLO fish oil is available both in capsule form and as a liquid. This allows it to be taken even by small children, without risk or discomfort when swallowing.

Support for the nervous system

One of the fundamental effects of fish oil is related to the health of the nervous system. Caring for one's mental state is a topic some people underestimate, when in fact it's of key importance to the overall well-being of our body. To a large extent, the state of the nervous system controls our sensations and our perception of the world around us. But how does fish oil actually affect it, and can we turn to it in cases of mental health disorders?

  1. Helps neurotransmitter function

Neurotransmitters are chemicals that allow neurons to communicate with one another throughout the body. They are what give the brain the chance to perform its various functions. Regular intake of EPA and DHA allows for higher-quality neuron activity in the area of cognitive skills.

Numerous studies provide evidence of the effect of long-term Omega-3 intake on brain function. Memory, concentration, better absorption of information, more effective reading comprehension - in these areas fish oil manages to help both children and adults.

Taking fish oil during pregnancy and in early childhood improves learning abilities in the long term. It also has a beneficial effect on children with ADHD (attention deficit disorder), DCD (developmental coordination disorder), as well as those showing symptoms of hyperactivity.

  1. Has an anti-inflammatory effect

The presence of inflammation in the body can be a serious threat to our health, even if we don't realize it exists. It can also affect the brain, causing damage and irreversible conditions, as seen in diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, and others.

The Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil, and EPA in particular, have a good anti-inflammatory effect. This benefit of the oil provides the most comprehensive support to the body. Fatty acids affect inflammatory processes while also providing prevention against potential future inflammation.

  1. Supports mental health and mood

In our fast-paced lifestyle, we increasingly look for ways to take care of our peace of mind so we can feel good at work and at home. Sometimes this proves to be a difficult task due to high stress levels. Some people choose to rely on sports, meditation, and their favorite hobby. Sometimes, however, this isn't enough, and help from within is needed.

Omega-3 fatty acids help cope with rapid mood swings and negative emotions. With long-term intake, they influence the brain's neuroplasticity, and through accumulation have a positive effect on mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, and frequent intrusive thoughts.

In conclusion

Caring for mental health can have a significant impact on all the mechanisms and systems of the body. Sometimes we don't even consider how deteriorating health can be linked to the nervous system, and consequently we don't take action in that direction.

Fish oil works in the interest of normal brain function, calm, and effective perception of information, not only in children but also in adults. Daily prevention of conditions such as depression, anxiety, and high stress levels is the key to a happier, more balanced everyday life. In the next part of the series, we'll pay closer attention to how fish oil reduces anxiety levels and strengthens the immune system.
