We strive to keep our footprint on nature to a minimum, which is why in March we're proudly adding to our portfolio, for the first time, the New Zealand body-care products Raw Nature – natural deodorants, lip balms, dry shampoo and an insect-repellent balm. They have won numerous quality awards in the "beauty products" and "vegan cosmetics" categories, and meet the highest standards for eco-friendliness and care for nature.
Why did we choose Raw Nature?
The most important reason we chose Raw Nature is the purity of the cosmetics and their natural ingredients, most of which are even edible. The absence of alcohol, talc, artificial fragrances, parabens, aluminum, plastic and palm oil makes them extremely suitable for a wide range of users – from teenagers to adults, for people who follow a vegan lifestyle, suffer from the most common allergies, or simply don't want to pollute nature.
New Zealand Manuka oil – the star of Raw Nature
The "star" in the composition of Raw Nature products is the natural New Zealand Manuka oil - Leptospermum Scoparium Branch/Leaf (NZ Mānuka).
What do we know about Manuka oil?
It's extracted from the Mānuka plant from New Zealand. It's a super-concentrated plant essential oil. Its active ingredient is leptospermone.
Manuka oil has antibacterial action - it protects against unwanted bacteria on the skin and acts as a natural deodorant.
It fights dandruff, cleanses and nourishes the scalp, while at the same time fighting bacteria, yeast and fungi, which is why it's also found in the brand's dry shampoos. It reduces and soothes redness, dry patches, oily pores, acne and eczema. That's why it's even more effective than tea tree oil and is found in the lip balms and the insect-repellent body balm. It reduces inflammation, helping to calm the skin. It supports healing by promoting the growth of new cells in the body.
A clean "raw" formula with a big impact
The organic coconut oil in the products' composition is extracted from freshly cut coconuts without the use of chemicals. It's rich in essential fatty acids, polyphenols, vitamins E and K, and iron. A natural moisturizer – it helps retain moisture and keeps the skin hydrated. The antioxidants in it protect the skin from the harmful effects of the sun and from pollution. It has anti-inflammatory action and reduces redness and irritation of dry, itchy skin. It acts as an antibacterial and antifungal agent.
The organic tapioca powder in the natural deodorants absorbs sweat and oil, up to 150% of its own weight. Just like coconut oil, it's an edible ingredient. It's used in cosmetics because it quickly absorbs excess oil from the skin, making it smooth and silky. It also reduces irritation.
Last but not least, Raw Nature products contain no water, which means they don't need preservatives (parabens) to stay stable.
Baking soda instead of aluminum. It's a relatively recent addition to cosmetics, but it appears in many homemade cosmetic recipes. Baking soda has antimicrobial properties, meaning it fights the bacteria that cause underarm odor. But since it's more acidic than the skin, it isn't recommended for people with sensitive skin. For them, the product line also includes a natural deodorant without baking soda.
Raw Nature cares for you and for nature
Deodorants, lip balms, dry shampoos, insect-repellent body balms – Raw Nature offers everything you need for everyday body care. But for consumers it also matters that the products are not tested on animals, are vegan, and contain no SLS, PEG, parabens, phthalates, artificial fragrances, LPG, phenoxyethanol, aluminum, talc, alcohol, silicones, plastic or palm oil. The deodorants use exclusively natural fragrances. The dry shampoos don't damage the scalp and protect it from drying out. The lip balms are long-lasting, with anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-aging action. All the products contain essential natural, mostly edible ingredients with proven effects in traditional New Zealand medicine and backed by modern science. None of the products require water to use, which is also a great convenience in a busy everyday routine.
A big plus for the brand is that it takes care to leave a minimal footprint on nature through the production and use of its products. Raw Nature is the first company in New Zealand to use packaging made from 100% biodegradable cardboard, thereby encouraging recycling and sustainable care for nature.
