Keeping your skin looking radiant and elastic is achieved through a combination of habits, influenced both by the substances we consume and by the care we give it from the outside. There are numerous cosmetic treatments aimed at maintaining a healthy appearance and restoring normal levels of collagen and elastin in the skin of the face and body.
Veronika Nacheva, founder of the RONIQUE Center for Sports, Health and Beauty, told us that the type of treatment and how it is performed are essential – a non-invasive approach and attention to detail are the foundation of visible results. The treatments we focus on in this article are exactly that kind – gentle and skin-friendly.
Microneedling
The basic idea behind the “microneedling” method is to stimulate collagen production through multiple micro-perforations. Tiny needles are used to make punctures on the surface of the skin, penetrating the epidermis and reaching the lower dermis. This helps promote the formation of new collagen and elastin fibres. Revitalising cocktails and hyaluronic acid can also be injected at the same time during the process.
The treatment is suitable for people with fine lines and wrinkles on the face, stretch marks, and scars from acne or surgery, but not for pregnant or breastfeeding women, or people with wounds in the area to be treated. A series of several sessions spaced 2-3 weeks apart is usually required, giving the skin time to recover after each one. The method causes minimal discomfort, and after the treatment a sunscreen is applied and visits to the sauna and solarium should be avoided.
Treatments with ICOONE ®
ICOONE® is a device that works through the innovative Roboderm® technology – it successfully replicates a two-handed manual massage, freeing up the therapist’s hands for additional stimulation. Laser and LED sources are also used, aimed at targeting fatty deposits that are unaffected by exercise and massage.
Its multifunctionality makes it a suitable tool for addressing conditions such as sagging skin, cellulite, wrinkles, rehabilitation after sports injuries, postpartum recovery, scars and more. It helps smooth the skin and improves drainage and blood circulation. Cellular stimulation is increased to encourage the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in smoother, firmer skin. The machine’s process involves working on both the face and body, and the number of sessions may vary depending on individual needs.
They are safe and free of side effects, allowing even pregnant women and those who have recently given birth to use them.
Mesotherapy
Its use dates back to 1952, when Dr. Michel Pistor established the field of mesotherapy in France. He worked actively on it for years, until in 1987 the French Academy of Medicine recognised mesotherapy as a distinct medical specialty. Today this type of treatment is among the most sought-after and effective for patients in Europe and the United States.
The essence of mesotherapy is the direct injection of minerals and amino acids into the mesoderm to firm and smooth the skin, and sometimes – to remove excess fat. The cocktails of substances are delivered under the skin, aiming to stimulate active production of elastin and collagen, as well as to improve blood circulation. The treatment allows the substances to penetrate deeper into the layers of the skin, reaching depths that creams containing various vitamins or hyaluronic acid cannot reach.
The beneficial effect is due both to the substances used and to the stimulation caused by the needle prick. The technique is mildly invasive, but is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, people with skin or heart conditions, or those with blood clotting disorders.
Radiofrequency Therapy
Also known as “radiofrequency lifting,” this therapy is a popular choice for people looking to minimise wrinkles and fine lines. The procedure is carried out by heating the face or décolletage area to 39°–43°C, which stimulates the fibroblasts in the deeper layers of the skin. As it penetrates the dermis, the heat enhances natural collagen synthesis, improves blood circulation and tightens the facial contour.
Results are visible after the very first session, but 6-8 sessions at intervals of about 10 days are applied to maintain the effect. The method is painless, but is not recommended for pregnant women, people with heart conditions, acne, rosacea, or patients who have had fillers.
Ultrasound Therapy
Ultrasound treatment has long been known to humanity for its many benefits to the body. The therapy is painless and refreshing, helping to give the skin a more youthful appearance. The process is an intense micro-massage with a spatula or special discs – the ultrasound waves penetrate deeply, warming the layers and stimulating lymphatic circulation and blood flow. This improves the production of collagen and elastin, boosts the penetration of substances from the cosmetic products applied afterwards, and helps moisture stay locked in for longer. The method is suitable for every skin type, and the effect is visible from the very first session. It is not recommended for pregnant women, or for skin, infectious or heart conditions, and should not be used after a chemical peel.
Oxygen Therapy
The concept behind oxygen therapy is to use natural ingredients to achieve a radiant effect and firm the skin, as well as to support the skin’s natural regenerative processes. This is achieved as an oxygen infusion improves the structure and hydration of the skin at depth. Oxygen therapy is an effective anti-ageing method with a botox-like effect, but without the pain of injection. The therapy is completely safe, even for pregnant women. It is suitable for every skin type and can be used in every season.
Conclusion
To achieve our desired skincare goals, informed choices go hand in hand with cosmetic treatments. It is essential to consult a specialist about the health of our skin and to reach the right decision together.
