A healthy immune system is the key to preventing infectious diseases. Every day, children are exposed to millions of germs, while vaccines cover barely one percent of them all. That is why they must rely, first and foremost, on their own defenses to fight off potential infections. At the same time, building a strong immune system is one of the best ways to prevent severe reactions after vaccinations. Here is how you can strengthen your children's immunity.
FOOD AND THE IMMUNE SYSTEM
As they grow, children need more beneficial nutrients that contribute to the healthy development of their entire physiology. However, very often they fail to get the necessary amounts through food.
For example, most growing children have a deficiency in omega-3 fatty acids. Their main sources are fish and eggs, foods that most children avoid. Even if you prepare fish for dinner every week, they still won't get the amount of beneficial substances they need. This doesn't mean you should serve fish dishes more often. In fact, some large species, such as white tuna, contain mercury, which is why doctors recommend moderate consumption.
It should be kept in mind that other sources of omega-3, such as flaxseed, do not contain DHA and EPA – the two most important fatty acids. This means that the balance between mercury content and a sufficient amount of omega-3 fatty acids can hardly be achieved through cooking alone.
The same is true for fruits and vegetables. We all know how good they are for our health – except, that is, for the children themselves.
Usually the optimal form of vitamin supplements for infants and young children is a combination of vitamins A, C and D. The best source of vitamin A is fish oil. It is important to know, however, that in large amounts vitamin A becomes toxic.
Foods containing vitamin A fall into 3 categories – low, medium and high in content. Rosita EVCLO fish oil contains medium amounts of vitamin A in its natural form, which makes it easier for the body to absorb.
The refining process requires the addition of synthetic vitamins to make up for the losses caused by heat treatment. Artificially added vitamins disrupt the natural ratio, which reduces their effectiveness. The correct ratio of vitamins A and D3 is essential for their beneficial effect. Rosita's fish oil is produced using a patented technology that involves no heat or chemical processing whatsoever. This means the fish oil reaches you in its natural form, without artificially added synthetic vitamins.
Rosita cod liver oil EVCLO contains no synthetic vitamins.
CAN CHILDREN TAKE EVCLO FISH OIL?
Extra virgin cod liver oil EVCLO contains no mercury and provides concentrated doses of omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA. It is completely safe for children and can even be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding (after consulting a doctor). Notably, omega-3 is naturally present in breast milk.
These fatty acids support brain and eye development in growing children and boost memory and concentration. Still, in some cases its use is not recommended:
- Children with an allergy to fish or iodine.
- Children taking anticoagulants or antiplatelet medication (a doctor's consultation is required before starting fish oil).
With the exception of these cases, fish oil is perfectly suitable for children.
Boost your child's diet to support their proper growth. This way you can be sure they are getting a rich range of important nutrients.
THE TYPE OF FISH OIL
The type of fish oil used to supplement a child's diet matters for how effectively it is absorbed by the body.
Liquid supplements are stronger than capsules, and the body "incorporates" them better into its metabolism. This means that the body gets greater nutritional value from every dose. Liquid fish oil is recommended for younger children, while capsules are better suited for older ones.
TAKING EVCLO FISH OIL AND DOSAGE FOR CHILDREN
Children can take between 500 and 1200 milligrams of fish oil per day, depending on their age, height and weight. Liquid fish oil can be swallowed directly or mixed with food, as long as it is not heated. Add it to juices or combine it with honey.
- Babies over 9 months – start with one drop a day and gradually increase to a maximum of 1/8 teaspoon (0.625 ml);
- Children aged 1 to 3 – start with a few drops a day, gradually increasing the dose to 1/8 – 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml);
- Children aged 3 to 5 – start with 1/8 teaspoon and gradually increase until reaching 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml);
- Children aged 5 to 12 – start with 1/4 teaspoon, gradually increasing the dose according to the child's weight;
- Teenagers – start with 1/4 teaspoon and increase to a maximum of 1 teaspoon (5 ml).
Rosita EVCLO extra virgin cod liver oil is an entirely natural product that contains no mercury. It is a rich source of immune boosters – vitamins A and D, as well as Omega-3 fatty acids. All of this makes EVCLO a truly valuable addition to the diet, one that strengthens a child's natural defenses. It is especially useful at the start of the new school year, before the onset of flu season.
