If last year we didn’t have enough time to reach our goals, that doesn’t mean we should give up on them. The new year gives us a fresh chance to change certain aspects of our daily life, our habits and our goals in the name of a better version of ourselves.
Set clear and realistic goals
Usually the goals we set at the start of the year are far too ambitious, and we struggle to stick to them for long. When the body and mind aren’t used to a given action or habit, they treat it as something overwhelming. Small steps in setting goals and building habits are the key to their success. There are many ways to get used to a new routine – recording your progress daily in a journal, breaking the desired goal into short-term milestones, motivational notes placed where you’ll see them at home and at the office, organizing tasks in a calendar, and most importantly – setting aside personal time to adjust to the changes.
A study by Dominican University of California shows that when we write our goals down on paper, we are 42% more likely to follow through on them than if we simply think about them. This way, the brain processes the information differently, creating a greater sense of commitment and motivation.
Meditation is your friend
Meditation is a wonderful way to „slow the pace“ of a hectic daily life. It has remarkable benefits for the body and is an interesting starting point for people who are just getting acquainted with it.
People who meditate for at least eight weeks show a striking change in the expression of 172 genes that regulate inflammation, circadian rhythms, and glucose metabolism, according to a Harvard University study. According to it, even just 15 minutes a day is enough for the body and mind to clear accumulated tension. By introducing meditation into our routine, we gain better focus and clarity when making decisions, setting new goals, and entering a more harmonious and calm state.
Exercise is always a good idea
This won’t surprise anyone. Physical activity has always been one of the recommended pillars of a healthy lifestyle. At the start of the year, going to the gym appears on the „list of changes“ for many people who want to lose weight or build muscle mass. Often, though, people end up giving up, because the body isn’t used to the strain and the workouts aren’t supervised by a specialist.
For exercise to become an active part of everyday life in 2024, it’s best to choose a type that matches the wishes and physical abilities of the individual. It should be matched to what they can handle, so the body isn’t overloaded and the effect doesn’t backfire.
Yoga is a favored combination of physical and spiritual practice. It combines maintaining good physical condition with clearing the mind and boosting motivation.
Quality food
Again, something obvious to everyone, but of fundamental importance to our health. The food we give our bodies largely determines not only our health, but also how we feel on a daily basis.
After the holiday season, filled with overeating heavy food, we tell ourselves that from the new year we’ll start a diet. For it to stay part of our routine for longer, an overall adjustment of mind and body is needed. There shouldn’t be an abrupt change in the type of food or in portion sizes – a stressed body might „fight back“.
A gradual transition to a specific eating plan is needed, to prepare the mind and body for something new. Lighter food, eating more seasonal fruits and vegetables, and staying hydrated will help „kick-start“ the metabolism.
Make dietary supplements an active part of your routine
Many of the vitamins and minerals needed for the body to function in a healthy way don’t reach us through food alone. There are dietary supplements that are essential for everyone’s health, and the sooner you build the habit of taking them, the fewer difficulties you’ll face in getting through daily tasks.
Vitamins, probiotics, Omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, collagen – these are just some of the supplements that are extremely valuable to the body and responsible for numerous processes. Rosita fish oil is a wonderful addition to your supplement routine – it strengthens immunity, supports the health of the nervous system, and improves the condition of eyesight, bones, and skin.
Collagen is a building block of all of the body’s organs and systems, and as such it’s good for it to be part of our daily life. RealFood Hydrolyzed Collagen is fully soluble, with no taste or smell, which allows it to be added to any food or drink.
To avoid forgetting to take them, you could set a specific time of day for it. Another trick is to set aside a special spot at home where they’re visible and „remind“ you – for example, in front of the bathroom mirror or in the hallway.
The new year brings a breath of fresh air to our thinking. It can motivate and inspire us to change for the better. Setting clear goals and gradually following through on them will, almost without us noticing, lead us to the results we’ve been dreaming of.
