5 Ways to Boost Your Child's Immunity During the Winter Months

In winter it seems we're taking our kids to the doctor quite often. A cold, a fever, a sore throat, the flu. They all tend to show up in young children when the temperature outside hovers around freezing. And whether your child has caught a cold or picked something up from another child, it's an unpleasant experience for both of you.

If all of this sounds all too familiar, it's time to start supporting your child's immunity with natural ingredients, so you can spare yourself the constant trips to the doctor's office - and your child the constant dose of medication.

How do you do that?

Here are 5 things that will help you naturally strengthen your child's immunity this winter.

Water

Water is very important for a child's proper development. In winter it matters even more. During the cold winter months you should increase your child's water intake - this keeps them hydrated, so their body can fight off unwanted flu germs. Water also helps flush out the harmful toxins they encounter every day. Other fluids that can help include freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices, herbal teas like ginger and lemon, chamomile, turmeric and cinnamon, mint, and rooibos tea.

Brightly colored fruits and vegetables

All brightly colored fruits and vegetables, such as oranges, kiwis, red and yellow peppers, beets, and all berries, are high in vitamin C and antioxidants, which fight germs and support the immune system. Making meals look appealing will get your child excited to eat these fruits and vegetables.

Foods rich in probiotics

Yogurt is rich in probiotics and excellent for maintaining a healthy immune system. Kids love it, so don't hesitate to include it at breakfast. Another probiotic-rich food is kombucha, which kids enjoy and which can be had on its own or blended into a smoothie recipe. There are plenty of options - you just need to find the one your child will enjoy.

Eggs

Eggs are a great source of protein, and they're one of the few foods that naturally contain vitamin D, which helps the body absorb calcium. Eggs also contain iron, vitamin A, and a rich amount of B vitamins. All of these are extremely important for your child and are a wonderful way to naturally boost their immunity.  There are many fun ways to include eggs in your children's meals - try using fun shapes for fried eggs, cutting boiled eggs in a special way, or making scrambled eggs more interesting.  All you need is a little imagination!

Omega-3 fatty acids

Fatty fish contains omega-3 fatty acids, the number one anti-inflammatory for the whole body. It also contains selenium and vitamin E, which are important for strengthening the immune system. Not only do they help the body fight illness, but they're also essential for healthy brain development. For an extra boost, you can add cod liver oil to your children's diet, especially during the winter months, when they tend to get sick more often. If they don't like fish, or it's hard for you to cook it that often, there's an easier solution.

Rosita fish oil is completely natural, extracted using ancient technology, and contains all the omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A, and vitamin D your child needs. Choose whichever form suits your child best - liquid or capsules - and give them a healthy, strong immune system this winter. Order Rosita fish oil now!
